Terms of Service

Welcome to StarCity. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the StarCity website and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

StarCity is an independent, non-commercial fan project, run without profit. It is not endorsed, sponsored, or affiliated with MovieStarPlanet ApS. MovieStarPlanet and MovieStarPlanet 2 are trademarks of MovieStarPlanet ApS, and all related game assets remain the property of their respective owners.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create a StarCity account. If the minimum digital-consent age in your country is higher than 13 (for example, 16 in some EU member states), you must be at least that age. By using the Service you represent that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. You must not share your account, sell it, transfer it, or use an account that does not belong to you. You must provide accurate information where requested and keep it up to date.

One person should not maintain multiple accounts to evade moderation actions, manipulate reputation, or inflate activity. We may suspend any accounts used for these purposes.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use StarCity to do any of the following, and not to help anyone else do them:

• Harass, threaten, stalk, dox, or otherwise harm any person, or engage in hate speech against protected groups.
• Post sexual, pornographic, or sexually suggestive content of any kind. Content that sexualises minors is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the relevant authorities.
• Post content that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or promotes self-harm or violence.
• Defraud other users, including scams, fake trades, impersonation, and misrepresenting the value or availability of items.
• Advertise third-party platforms, services, or sales, or otherwise use StarCity as a marketing channel, unless you have our prior written permission.
• Spam, meaning duplicate or low-effort content posted in bulk, or abuse of mentions and direct messages.
• Circumvent moderation actions, including evading a ban, restriction, or mute by creating or using a second account.
• Interfere with the Service: probe, scan, load-test, scrape at scale, reverse engineer, introduce malware, or attempt to gain unauthorised access.
• Use bots, scripts, scrapers, or any other automated tools against StarCity. Access to the Service is intended for human users through the official website.
• Misuse the trade, reputation, or reporting systems to harm other users or manipulate their standing on the platform.

4. Your content

"Your Content" means anything you submit to StarCity, including forum posts, replies, direct messages, trade advertisements, reputation entries, uploaded images, saved outfits, and any other material you post.

By submitting Your Content, you grant StarCity a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, publish, display, distribute, and create derivative works from Your Content, in any media, in connection with the operation, moderation, and promotion of the Service. You waive any moral rights in Your Content to the extent permitted by law. This licence survives the removal of Your Content, so that backups, moderation records, archives, and derivative works we have already created may continue to exist.

You represent and warrant that you have all rights, licences, and permissions necessary to submit Your Content and to grant us the licence above, and that Your Content does not violate these Terms or the rights of any third party. You are solely responsible for Your Content. StarCity does not pre-screen user content and is not liable for anything that users post. If Your Content causes a third-party claim against us, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless to the fullest extent permitted by law.

5. MovieStarPlanet 2 account linking

If you choose to link your MovieStarPlanet 2 in-game profile, you confirm that the profile belongs to you or that you otherwise have permission to link it. You must not link an account that belongs to someone else.

StarCity will never ask for your MovieStarPlanet password, and you must never share it with anyone claiming to represent StarCity. Linking happens through a short in-game code system; that is the only supported flow.

We display public in-game information for linked profiles (username, fame, inventory, outfits) by calling MovieStarPlanet's public game API. The accuracy of that data depends on what the game reports.

6. Trades, escrow, and reputation

Trade advertisements on StarCity are posted by users. You are responsible for reviewing the terms of any trade and for deciding whether to proceed.

StarCity may offer an optional escrow service that temporarily holds in-game items on behalf of traders to reduce the risk of scams. When you use escrow, you authorise StarCity to receive and release items on your behalf in accordance with the agreed trade. Escrow is provided as a convenience and on a best-effort basis. You remain responsible for confirming the details of the trade before you commit, and you accept that delays or failures in the MovieStarPlanet game or in its API may affect how and when items can be moved. Trades completed outside of escrow are strictly between the users involved and are not brokered or guaranteed by us.

Reputation entries must be truthful and must relate to an actual interaction with the user you are rating. Abuse of the reputation system, including retaliatory, fake, or coordinated ratings, is prohibited.

7. Moderation and enforcement

We may, at our discretion and without prior notice:

• Remove or hide content that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe to be harmful.
• Warn, mute, restrict, suspend, or permanently ban accounts.
• Block IP addresses associated with abuse.
• Cooperate with legal authorities when required.

8. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, in whole or in part, for any violation of these Terms, for extended inactivity, for risk to the Service or other users, or for any other reason permitted by law. On termination, Sections 4 (your content), 9 (disclaimers), 10 (limitation of liability), and 12 (governing law) will survive.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure, or that data displayed (including inventory, fame, and item values) is accurate or current.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StarCity, its maintainers, and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Because StarCity is a free, non-commercial fan project, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, for a free service, is zero) or (b) EUR 50.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (such as liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or personal injury).

11. Third-party services and content

StarCity links to and integrates with third-party services (including MovieStarPlanet 2, Google, Discord, and email providers). We do not control these services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which StarCity is operated, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this clause does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country where you live.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service. Your continued use of StarCity after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.
